One Box. Four Links — CAN FD, LIN, Fiber & Ethernet.

OpticBridge 4-in-1 (model OB4-100) is a single DIN-rail transceiver that converts CAN FD to Fiber Optic, CAN FD to Ethernet, LIN to Fiber Optic, and LIN to Ethernet — transparently, with galvanic isolation, and without changing your protocol stack. Engineered by Embed Square for EMC labs, EV test benches, and long-distance industrial fieldbus links.

The Protocol Matrix

Four Conversions, One Spare Part

Whatever mix of copper and optical media your CAN FD and LIN networks need, this unit carries the frames through — bidirectionally, in real time, and all four paths at once.

Path 01

CAN FD → Fiber Optic

Full-speed media conversion between a copper CAN FD bus and a duplex multimode fiber link. Transparent forwarding of classic and FD frames, extended IDs, and remote frames.

CAN FDFIBER · SC

Path 02

CAN FD → Ethernet

CAN FD and classic CAN frames wrapped into TCP or UDP datagrams for PC tools and host applications — a diagnostic-grade link over any IP network.

CAN FDETHERNET · RJ45

Path 03

LIN → Fiber Optic

Single-wire LIN buses carried over optical fiber to escape ground loops and reach far test stations. Master or slave role, LIN 1.3 / 2.x aware.

LINFIBER · SC

Path 04

LIN → Ethernet

LIN frames streamed over TCP/UDP so bench hardware, gateways, and test supervisors can watch LIN schedules from anywhere on the network.

LINETHERNET · RJ45

All four paths run concurrently on one unit. Frame routing is transparent — no changes to CANopen, J1939, UDS, or plain custom protocols.

Inside the Box

Engineered for the Test Bench and the Plant Floor

Every decision — optics, isolation, power, housing — is aimed at one job: carrying CAN FD and LIN traffic reliably where copper cannot go.

Routing

Transparent Frame Routing

CANopen, J1939, UDS, or your own protocol — frames pass through in both directions at full line rate, with no firmware changes in your stack.

Isolation

Galvanic Isolation

A hard barrier between the field and media side kills ground loops and protects test gear — the fiber path is isolated by its very nature.

Setup

Web Configuration, No Software

Set bit rates, termination, LIN master/slave role, and IP addressing from any browser. One config file per unit, easily cloned.

Power

14–38V DC Wide-Range Input

A single supply handles automotive-style 12V rails, 24V industrial rails, and 36V battery strings — reverse-polarity protected.

Build

Metal Housing, DIN-Rail Ready

Shielded metal enclosure for panel or DIN-rail mounting — one 24V feed instead of four separate converters and supplies.

Diagnostics

Lab-Friendly Bring-Up

SWD debug port and a debug UART log, plus live LEDs for PWR, CAN, LIN, FO, and link — fault-finding in seconds, not hours.

Product Overview

Copper In. Fiber and IP Out.

One STM32H (ARM Cortex-M7) core routes frames between a copper field side and an isolated media side — with a galvanic barrier that kills ground loops. One CAN FD bus (ISO 11898-2) with switchable 120Ω termination and one LIN bus (master or slave) connect on plug-in terminals, powered by a 14–38V DC input from any lab or industrial rail.

On the media side, a duplex multimode fiber port (SC, 850nm) and a 10/100BASE-T Ethernet port (RJ45) carry the frames onward. The fiber link is inherently galvanically isolated; the Ethernet path is transformer-isolated — so equipment on either side never shares an electrical ground.

Frames pass through at line rate in both directions with zero protocol changes to CANopen, J1939, UDS, or your own stack — the unit is a drop-in media converter, not a translator your existing tools need to learn about.

Applications

Where Copper Runs Out, This Box Takes Over

EMC / EMI Laboratories

Run CAN FD and LIN buses through immunity and emission tests with optical separation — no ground loops, no conducted noise into the DUT.

EV & Battery Test Benches

High-voltage inverter and battery rigs keep the bus far from the operator desk — fiber crosses the cell, Ethernet reaches the PC.

Long-Distance Fieldbus

Well past the ~40m copper limit, fiber carries CAN FD and LIN over extended distances without repeaters and with zero noise pickup.

Industrial Automation

Machine controllers, solar and wind plants, process lines — anywhere potential differences and EMI threaten copper buses.

Vehicle & Lab Integration

Plug bench LIN slaves or CAN FD prototypes into an Ethernet-based data-acquisition backbone and monitor with standard tools.

Test-Equipment OEMs

Embed one gateway inside testers and fixtures to offer fiber and Ethernet bus access as a standard feature — no separate converter boards.
